The Challenge

What stood in the way.

When a lab runs on paper and disconnected systems, every hand-off becomes a risk to quality, speed and revenue. The root cause is that no single record links clinical, operational and financial events

Manual, paper-based work

Patient details were re-entered at every step, which meant slow hand-offs and inconsistent records.

Weak sample traceability

Without barcodes and status scans there was no chain of custody, and identification errors were hard to catch.

Rigid report formats

Every new test or report layout needed a developer, which slowed down new services.

Fragmented billing

Self-pay, company-billed, insured and referred patients each carry their own rates, leaving revenue, receivables and commissions unclear when billing sits outside the lab…

Our Solution

How we answered it.

We built NexusPro as a modular Laboratory Information Management System that puts the whole lab on one case record. Registration, samples, results, approval, reports, billing and payments all attach to the same case, with role-based access by organisation, centre and department.

  • ProblemEvery new test or report layout traditionally needed a developer.
Our answerWe built a dynamic template builder so administrators design their own result forms and report layouts per test. Every client request is tested against one question first
  • ProblemLabs follow different processes, but billing, approval and audit controls must never be weakened.
Our answerLabs configure their own 17-status workflow, switching statuses on or off, reordering them and defining transitions, while billing
  • ProblemEach payer type needed its own rates, balances and statements.
Our answerReference types, standard and child rate lists, per-test discounts and locked contract rates sit on the case, so company, insurance
  • ProblemLabs needed segregation of duties and evidence for audits and accreditation.
Our answerUsers, groups, roles and policies apply by organisation, centre and department: reception cannot change reports and technicians cannot alter billing.

How It Works

The parts that made the difference.

Front desk registration

Reception finds patients by MRN, name, CNIC or phone to avoid duplicates. Rates and discounts apply automatically, followed by labels, a receipt and full or partial payment.

Barcoded sample tracking

Each sample's barcode ties it to patient, case and test, with status moving from registered to collected, dispatched and received. The lab receives centre samples in bulk.

Department-wise results

Technicians see only their departments' work, with templates that carry reference ranges and hotkeys. Bulk status change moves many tests at once, and a worksheet prints the day's bench work.

Doctor approval and template reports

Pathologists review, add remarks and approve with a digital signature. Only approved results are released, rendered from the test's template with the lab's branding.

Results

What changed for the client.

NexusPro runs in live laboratories, from early-adopter sites to an extended network deployment. Value is measured against a baseline agreed with each lab at onboarding, and feedback from working labs continues to shape the product.

  • Patients registered once and reused everywhere, instead of re-entered at every step
  • New report formats built by administrators rather than developers
  • Payer billing handled inside the system, with the reference on the case setting rates and balances
  • Cash reconciled from logs by user, method and centre instead of from paper
  • One dashboard across centres in place of branch management by phone
  • Every histopathology block, slide and stain tracked instead of kept in registers
